The original brief for Re-al was to design the most economical aluminium chair possible. The basic architecture was quickly agreed with the manufacturer, but how to give the chair character and a presence without affecting the production costs? The answer came in the form of a very slight curve (R1500mm) on the seat and backrest when viewed from the side. This simple little trick made the chair look much more relaxed and fluid, like a hand-drawn line.

Re-al is made of 80% recycled aluminium and is fully recyclable.
